Firm Protects Client's
Right to Compete with Former Employer
Houston, Texas, February 28, 2006: The Rocha Law Firm, PLLC announced today that the firm successfully negotiated an agreement between its client and his former employer which allows the client to continue marketing activities and providing professional services for a new employer. The client previously worked for a consulting company with over $15 Billion in net revenues and over 126,000 employees in 48 countries. Four months after leaving the consulting company to work for a competitor, the company threatened legal action against the client to prevent him from providing his professional services to the competitor. The firm negotiated an agreement whereby the client can provide his services to the competitor.
"Texas law promotes free trade and is reluctant to impose restrictions on an individual's right to work and earn a fair wage," said Jaime Rocha, principal to the law firm. Lawsuits over covenants not to compete between an individual and his former employer are common and can last several years and cost thousands of dollars to resolve. The firm was able to negotiate an agreement between the parties without the need for a long, drawn-out trial. "We represent each client as if we are preparing for trial. This gives our clients the leverage to take the most beneficial settlement position," added Rocha.
The Rocha Law Firm PLLC serves individuals and corporations by providing quality legal representation while maintaining a focus on clients' needs. The firm uses its experience working with and for small businesses to effectively represent its clients in commercial disputes and business development issues. The Rocha Law Firm PLLC serves its clients in all areas of business law and commercial litigation.
